Battlefield 6's Casual Playlist Sparks Heated Debates Regarding Bots, XP Rewards, and Queue Times

Recently, Battlefield Studios launched a fresh playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this option resembles the regular Breakthrough format but includes several key adjustments:

  • Every squad includes just 8 human participants, with the rest made up of 32 bots.
  • Activities performed by real players award full XP, while bot actions provide lower rewards.
  • Only two locations can be played: Cairo Siege and Empire State map.
  • Features like Dogtags, accolades, and stat tracking have been turned off.

In short, this mode lives up to its name: it offers a laid-back version of Breakthrough. At face value, one could assume it's a good idea, as it gives more options for gamers seeking different methods to enjoy the game. However, if video games has shown one thing, it's that not everyone will be happy. Which is to say, a lot of BF6 players are upset.

Community Reactions: From Fury to Praise

"Gamers prefer human opponents. Avoid making the mistakes of your competitors," reads a response to the mode reveal. "Absolutely shocking concept," says another. At the same time, in community forums, a player notes, "I have no idea where we are going with this game," while another details all the issues they believe to be broken in the game: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, correct rocket mechanics, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this bot mode."

However, amid the criticism, there are players explaining how much they're liking the recent addition. "It's very fun to warm up, human participants keep it from being a complete grind but it's very relaxed," reads a forum post. "The community fails to see that there are gamers who actually go outside and can't play this game all the time. Let them find a middle ground," states another. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is perfect for me," while someone else praises the mode for "not being overcompetitive."

Valid Criticisms and Community Feedback

All that said, there are valid points to criticize the new mode. Some users have highlighted that it could increase wait times more extended for other modes due to the large amount of playlists currently available. Similarly, certain regions already encounter mostly bots in the current modes. Additionally, it appears somewhat counterintuitive that the mode won't start without a required amount of human gamers, even though it focuses mostly on fighting AI opponents.

Finally, one of the biggest complaints is that Battlefield Portal was promised to offer full XP, even against bots, but that was removed when they tried to remove XP farming from the system. So this new playlist seems like the player base compromising halfway, according to forum feedback. A different user labels this addition as the developers "dropping the ball significantly, I had great enjoyment in the first couple of days, what prompted them to change it?"

Future Prospects: Will Changes Occur?

Should Battlefield Studios has demonstrated something to date with Battlefield 6, it is that they're paying attention and acting on player input. Assignments being too difficult were adjusted rapidly, just like the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, if their data shows this new playlist isn't performing to their expectations, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
