New Information Emerge Regarding the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Recent details have emerged about the tragic passing of esteemed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their residence home on Sunday.
The Initial Report
According to a report quoting a family associate, a massage therapist arriving for an session first raised the alarm after being unable to gain access the residence. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
After gaining access to the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Afterward, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained without bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source challenged several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
Additionally disputed widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to reports of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
