'People are intimidated' - why 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the squad everyone fears.

There's little doubt why Arsenal are now many people's preferred choice to win the Premier League in the current campaign.

Consider their results against Newcastle and Crystal Palace compared to those same matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have defeated all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race previously.

Impenetrable Backline

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are looking well positioned to ultimately achieve their title ambition.

They stand first for shutouts (6), goals allowed (3), shots faced (72), shots on target faced (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the best in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Mastery

Their threat from set-pieces is highly documented, but competing clubs still struggle to neutralize the Gunners from these chances.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just afraid of them and it is great to see."

Championship Credentials

What is especially remarkable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City at home - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they maintain victories, their traditional rivals aren't faring so well. This marks the premier instance at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on manager Mikel Arteta at the start, having invested around £250m on eight summer additions in quest of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far proven successful in remarkable manner, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and having the strongest defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Shutouts in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without letting in a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and experts have described Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now operating with conviction and resolve.
