The Grisly Animated Movie Ending That Lingers Fans

Among every adult-oriented animated films I’ve personally watched, no other has lingered in my mind quite like the fear-filled finale of the graphically gory and deeply subversive film from 2022 The Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, the Spain-based filmmaker created a grim, bleak , often savage universe that included a few small , desolate hints of optimism.

Although The Unicorn Wars feels like it stemmed from an impulse to push animation further, the director stated that it was rather a try to convey a universal, multicultural theme concerning “the common origin of all wars.”

That message is communicated through a band of colorful pastel bears , obviously modeled after a famous series of cuddly figures.

Maturing in a culture focused on militarism and the war machine, a lot of these animals are consumed by killing unicorns, because of a religious scripture which states the bears they previously were masters of the forest, until the horned beings expelled them.

A few have not completely fallen for the indoctrination, and would rather sample substances and fornicate outdoors.

In contrast to their friendly counterparts, these colorful critters display genitals and obvious libidos.

For one especially vicious, skeptical animal, the character Bluey, the war with the unicorns transforms into a road to control — and specifically to supremacy above his gentler, nicer brother the bear Tubby.

Bluey acts as a tormentor and an obvious antisocial figure , and while fear dominates his unit and takes his teammates individually, he grabs more and more control for himself, through ever more violent, harmful methods.

Meanwhile, the unicorns are experiencing their own nightmare, in the form of a growing, deadly beast in their woods.

“At the beginning, it feels like a comedy,” the filmmaker commented. “Yet it evolves into a more serious and sad film. And ultimately, it transforms into a scary feature.”

The Unicorn Wars starts out feeling a bit like one of the more whimsical films from a legendary animator, that uncover a wicked pleasure in letting cartoon characters swear, engage in violence, or engage sexually.

Subsequently it turns into more akin to a more grim work from the same creator, featuring progressively visual gore and a noticeable relation to genuine horror of battle.

Ultimately, it is a complete extreme drama bloodbath.

The fear that makes this a perfect Halloween watch begins a lot earlier than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is one for the devoted lovers of violence, for enthusiasts of intense movies who wish to view something they haven’t ever viewed until now, and who can handle a plot that offers no restraint.

View it with the lights off with no disturbances, and the finale will burrow under your skin and linger.
