The Lionesses take on the Chinese team – Women’s Friendly International

Introduction

Welcome everyone to the friendly game between the English side and the Chinese squad at Wembley Stadium. This promises to be an exciting contest with the current Euro titleholders facing the current Asian Cup champions.

The iconic Wembley is fully booked for the event, which will see the celebrated Fran Kirby honored pre-match after her departure from the England squad before the Euro tournament this past summer.

Lineup details will be announced shortly, but there was a recent squad update for England. On Friday, the goalkeeper Khiara Keating withdrew from the squad with a small issue, and so previous starter Ellie Roebuck has been called up.

With Hannah Hampton injured, it will be interesting to see who England manager Sarina Wiegman selects in goal. This information and additional developments are coming up before the start of the match at 5.30pm GMT.

Lineup Announcements

The lineups have been announced. Anna Moorhouse starts in goal for England in the unavailability of Hannah Hampton and Khiara Keating.

England: Moorhouse, Bronze, Charles, Walsh, Le Tissier, Morgan, Mead, Stanway, Russo, Toone, Hemp.

Substitutes: Hings, Baggaley, Kendall, Wubben-Moy, Beever-Jones, Kelly, Kearns, Park, Blindkilde Brown, Roebuck, Clinton, Denton, Fisk, Godfrey.

Details are being sought for China’s team news now; when it comes through, I will post it.

Leadership Role

The upcoming fixture will be Anna Moorhouse’s first appearance for England. She was a part of the European Championship squad who claimed victory this past summer, but she remained on the bench with Hannah Hampton in the number one shirt.
