This Swine Life: Hog Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the identical stature as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the county's top official had her own ceremonial pardon event this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a new presidential term.

“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future away from worry.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The swine, donated by a first responder, was named for the current slang trend of young people yelling “six-seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so widespread that a prominent word reference recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: joyful, diverse, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Each year, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they celebrated Six Seven’s big moment.
